Sameer founded Swoop in 2014, a vertical SaaS platform in Roadside Assistance and Towing, after a search for an opportunity that was mobile, a fragmented marketplace, and was dirty, grubby and un-sexy. Swoop raised $3M in seed capital from investors such as Founder Collective, Slow Ventures, SV Angel, and Entree Capital.
Swoop's critical insight was using towing software as a wedge to help bring local towing companies online, enabling a towing network that could deliver more efficient roadside service for insurance companies and car manufacturers.
After pilots with leading car and insurance brands like BMW and Farmers Insurance, Swoop exited to the largest player in the B2B roadside market in December 2017, delivering a return to all venture investors.
Prior to founding Swoop, Sameer was a Consumer Internet Growth Investor at Technology Crossover Ventures, where he led investments in Dollar Shave Club, Minted, and Swagbucks.
Sameer is a proud alum of the Morgan Stanley Technology Investment Banking Group in New York City. It is there that he found his passion for high growth businesses. Sameer worked on the IPOs of HomeAway, SMART Technologies, and multiple M&A transactions, including Emerson/Avocent, Dell/Compellent, and Ebay/GSI Commerce.
Sameer graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a dual degree in Economics and Applied Mathematics & Statistics. Sameer was the President of Hopkins Student Enterprises, JHU's Student led Entrepreneurial program, in both 2008 and 2009.
